Auckland & NZ

New Zealand's Construction and Engineering Hub

Auckland is New Zealand's largest city and the centre of the country's construction boom. With a population approaching two million, the city faces sustained demand for housing, commercial development, and infrastructure upgrades. The City Rail Link, Auckland Light Rail, and billions of dollars in motorway and water infrastructure projects are creating significant demand for skilled construction workers, engineers, and project managers across the region.

Our Auckland office on Quay Street sits on the waterfront in the heart of the CBD, positioning us at the centre of New Zealand's business community. The Auckland team specialises in construction, engineering, manufacturing, and logistics recruitment, building strong relationships with New Zealand's leading contractors, engineering consultancies, and manufacturing firms. We supply trades, machine operators, and labourers to active project sites daily, while also placing permanent professionals in management and technical roles.

A key advantage of our Auckland office is trans-Tasman capability. Because HBG operates across both Australia and New Zealand, we can facilitate worker movements between the two countries seamlessly. Australian workers seeking opportunities in New Zealand — and Kiwi workers looking for roles across the Tasman — benefit from our established networks and deep understanding of both markets. This cross-border capability is particularly valuable for clients with operations in both countries.

FAQ

Auckland Office Questions

Do you place workers across all of New Zealand?
Yes. While our office is based on Quay Street in Auckland CBD, we service projects across the entire North Island and increasingly across the South Island as well. Auckland is our primary market, but we regularly place workers in Wellington, Hamilton, Tauranga, Christchurch, and other centres. For projects outside Auckland, we coordinate travel and accommodation logistics as required.
Can you help Australian workers relocate to NZ?
Yes. One of the key advantages of HBG operating in both Australia and New Zealand is our ability to facilitate trans-Tasman placements. Australian citizens and permanent residents can live and work in New Zealand without a visa, and we help manage the relocation process — including connecting workers with local housing, explaining NZ employment law differences, and ensuring smooth onboarding with New Zealand employers.
Do you need a labour hire licence to operate in New Zealand?
No. New Zealand does not currently have a labour hire licensing regime like Australia. However, Harrison Barratt Group voluntarily operates to the same high standards in New Zealand as we do in our licensed Australian states. This includes full compliance with New Zealand employment law, the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, and all relevant industry standards.
What industries do you service from Auckland?
Our Auckland office specialises in construction, engineering, manufacturing, and logistics recruitment. We supply workers to commercial and residential construction projects, infrastructure upgrades, manufacturing plants, engineering consultancies, and distribution centres across New Zealand. We also place permanent staff in project management, site supervision, and engineering roles.
