What is the minimum contract duration?
We typically place contractors on a minimum 3-month engagement, although this can be adjusted based on the role and project requirements. Most engagements range from 6 to 18 months, with many extending as projects progress. There is no maximum duration — we have contractors who have been on multi-year placements with the same client.
How are contract rates determined?
Contract rates are determined based on the role, seniority, market conditions, and project location. We provide transparent rate breakdowns that include the contractor's base salary equivalent, superannuation, leave loading, payroll tax, workers compensation, and our management margin. We benchmark rates against current market data to ensure competitiveness for both the client and the contractor.
Can I convert a contractor to permanent employment?
Yes, and we encourage it when the fit is right. Our contract staffing agreements include clear temp-to-perm conversion terms from day one. The conversion fee is typically based on the contractor's tenure on your project — the longer they have been placed, the lower the fee. This arrangement effectively lets you trial a senior professional in your environment before making a permanent commitment.
Who is the employer of record?
Harrison Barratt Group is the employer of record for all contract staff. This means HBG is responsible for the employment contract, PAYG withholding, superannuation, payroll tax, workers compensation, leave entitlements, and all other employer obligations. The contractor works under your day-to-day direction on site, but the employment relationship and all associated risks sit with HBG.
